Gwen M. Glew, MD, MPH

board-certified developmental pediatrician

Dr. Gwen Glew is a pediatrician who trained at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, the University of Washington, and Seattle Children’s Hospital.  She has cared for thousands of patients in clinical settings for decades, specializing in developmental disabilities. As assistant professor of pediatrics, she instructed medical students, residents, and fellows, in addition to conducting research. She has published scholarly work on various topics including cerebral palsy and bullying among children in leading publications like Journal of Pediatrics and Archives of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine

In 2012, Dr. Glew stopped seeing patients to care full time for her 12-year-old son when he was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Simultaneously, she cared for her elderly mother until she died in 2021. Her experiences as a caregiver, mother, daughter and pediatrician give her unique insight into the patient experience and have inspired her to candidly share stories from both sides of the hospital bed. She seeks to improve hospital systems to better care for patients and their families, and to guide patients toward greater self-advocacy. Gwen volunteers extensively for and served on the Board of the Delaware and Eastern Pennsylvania chapter of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. She lives in the Philadelphia area with her husband and two sons.
